BOOKLETS BY G R GREEN
I make no pretence at being a writer but nevertheless do enjoy writing and this is something that I've been doing for the past few years. One thing's for sure is that I'm no speaker or a leader, so this does give me an opportunity to express how I feel about a number of issues, and also to share some of my experiences since becoming a Christian 45 years ago. The first booklet that I wrote was "Has God given you a mission" which came as a result of working for a Christian organisation for 13 years. I learned a lot a valuable lessons during my time there which I have appreciated. Since then I've written a booklet on "The Healthy Church" in which I give my views on how I feel a church should function. One of the things in which a church should shine, in my opinion, is in how they love one another (John 13:35) and my booklet "Has you church lost your first love" came as a result of that. The subject of redeeming the time was something that was on my mind for a while and then one day when walking in Oxton Village, in Birkenhead, I saw those words around the clock face at Christ Church and so I set about writing that. One day when getting out of bed I heard the words in my mind "What if?" Not knowing what to do about it I wrote this booklet, but am not sure if I've done any justice to it, so apart from one or two people have never given this to anyone. The other booklet "Reflections on the Christian Life" is just that, nothing profound, just some reflections on a number of different passages from Scripture. The booklet on Katie Booth came about through being so blessed in reading about her life.
For the past 6 years I've changed to writing on local Christian history, i.e. Liverpool and Merseyside, and so far have written 3 booklets on this, which are included in my website www.liverpoolrevival.org.uk The articles below are just summaries of these, with links to the website. My latest booklet, finished in April 2009 is about some of the great evangelists from Merseyside who saw many thousands of people brought to Christ during their ministry, particularly during the 1859 Revival. I'm currently doing research on some of their contemporaries whom God used during the great revival in 1859, and these are shown in my new website www.1859.org.uk
I've produced three other booklets on messages which I've appreciated by people I know, apart from the one by Hanson Jones which is a partial reprint of a booklet, now well out of print, which I feel has an important message for the church today. Mike Dixon was my former pastor at Chester, and Phil Hoyle has been a friend of ours for many years, and a former pastor.
